Shamsadin (Mehdi Moradi) a talented 17-year-old who receives the title of Hafez(given to those who had memorized the Koran by hear Shamsadin (Mehdi Moradi) a talented 17-year-old who receives the title of Hafez (given to those who had memorized the Koran by heart), is invited by the Great Muftí, the religious leader of the town, to come to his house and teach his daughter Nabat (Kumiko Aso). Even if he's not allowed to see her, between the two starts to develop a strong bond through their discussions on religion, philosophy and poetry. Their affection though wouldn't be accepted by the community they live in... This beautiful, tough, poetic story is told by Iranian director Abolfazl Jalili in the mesmerizing Hafez, that received the Special Jury Award at 2007 Rome Film Festival.
