First Hiking Trip- Zikra Initiative

25 participants hike their way to a better future for others The Zikra Initiative launched its first of a series of hiking trips at Seil Weida3a. The hiking trip, which took place near Ghor El Mazra'a, included 25 participants who hiked through the site's rocky track and water system before enjoying a communal lunch with the local community. The trip aimed at providing one member of the local community (Umm Thaer) with the opportunity to fund the launch of a sustainable business through the system of micro loans. The total amount of the loan (JD 400) was the sum of the hikers' participation fees, collected for the benefit of Umm Thaer. Hikers later visited Umm Thaer to discuss her business plan for opening a boutique, the first of its kind in the area. With time, Umm Thaer will pay back the loan which in turn will go to help launch a business for another family within Ghor Al Mazra'a.
